Bogor. President Prabowo Subianto called for unity as he cast his vote in the 2024 Regional Elections on Wednesday at polling station 008 in Bojong Koneng, Bogor, West Java. Prabowo said that election outcomes should bring people together, with winners leading inclusively and losers collaborating for the nation's progress.

"Every election has winners and losers. Those who win must lead for everyone, and those who lose must collaborate. The most important thing is serving and working for the people," Prabowo said after casting his vote.

Prabowo also encouraged citizens to vote wisely, underscoring the significance of their choices in shaping leadership for the next five years. “The choice is up to the people. They should choose wisely. As for my vote, it’s a secret,” he added.

The president confirmed he would monitor the quick count results from news broadcasts while continuing his other activities. He also commended election organizers for ensuring a smooth and peaceful voting process.

“We have a good system in place, one that has been tested through numerous elections. This is not our first time. Bawaslu [the Election Supervisory Board] knows the procedures well. There will always be strengths and weaknesses, and we will evaluate them later,” Prabowo said.

This year’s elections involve over 200 million registered voters, facilitated by more than 8 million election officials. The simultaneous elections are being held to appoint leaders in 545 regions, including 37 provinces, 415 regencies, and 93 cities, where terms are set to conclude between 2022 and 2025.
