Jakarta. Presidential press bureau chief Bey Machmudin on Sunday (09/07) issued a statement clarifying that all travel expenses of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's family members, who followed him during the recent work visits to Turkey and Germany, were borne by the president himself.

The statement comes after Apung Widadi, deputy secretary-general of the Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency (Fitra), told Kompas.com there was no transparency regarding the costs of the presidential family's travel expenses.

"The president has issued an instruction that all travel and accommodation expenses of his family members, who followed him to Turkey and Germany, will be covered by the president himself," Bey said in the statement.

Jokowi visited Turkey on Wednesday, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and continued to Germany to attend the Group of 20 Summit in Hamburg on Friday.

The president was accompanied by first lady Iriana Widodo, the couple's three children, daughter-in-law and grandson.

Bey also said that the presence of the family did not disturb members of the official delegation, as they were seated in the flight compartment designated solely for the president and the first lady.
