President Steps in Over Reports of Top Prosecutor Stalked by Counter-Terror Unit

Jakarta. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Monday that he had met with the attorney general and the National Police chief to get clarification of reports that a top prosecutor had allegedly been stalked by members of the police’s counterterrorism squad, Detachment 88.
During the incident on Friday, Febrie Adriansyah, the deputy attorney general overseeing corruption cases, was reportedly stalked by at least two men while having dinner at a Jakarta restaurant. One of the suspected stalkers was arrested by Military Police personnel who were part of the prosecutor’s security detail.
The president, attending an event at the Istora Senayan Indoor Stadium on Monday evening, said he had summoned Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin and Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo to discuss the incident.
However, Jokowi declined to reveal details from his discussion with the two top law enforcement officials when asked by journalists. Instead, he pointed to the police chief, who stood behind him, and said, “Ask him directly.”
Listyo responded with a smile and did not say much after the president left the venue.
"I and the attorney general have no issues at all," Listyo said.
Earlier in the day, the police chief and the attorney general were seen shaking hands and posing for photos together at the launch ceremony of the government’s digital service system at the State Palace in Jakarta. They also declined to comment on the alleged stalking incident on that occasion.
