Balikpapan. The Public Works and Housing Ministry (PUPR) is working diligently to ensure President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo can occupy the presidential office in the new capital, Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan, by next month.

Diana Kusumastuti, Director General of Infrastructure Development at the Ministry, announced this while accompanying President Jokowi during the inauguration of educational facilities in Central Kalimantan on Thursday.

She noted that various infrastructure preparations in IKN, including the presidential office within the State Palace complex, are set to be operational in July. Alongside the presidential office, infrastructure like toll roads, water facilities, ministry offices, and a memorial park are also being readied.

"To ensure readiness, including the palace and the Communication and Information Technology Ministry offices, we are striving to make everything functional by the end of July," she emphasized.

Diana mentioned that the interior and exterior of the presidential office have been completed to welcome the 79th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony on August 17, including the parade ground in front of the palace and the national axis.

"The exterior and interior are fully prepared. The Garuda emblems are installed, and the national axis in front of the palace is also finished; maintenance work will follow," she added.

The Ministry is also accelerating the construction of coordinating ministry offices, expected to be finished by late July 2024.

"The coordinating ministry offices will be operational and ready for use. We are aiming to expedite the completion of roads in front of the Presidential Palace by July," she concluded.
