Rhoma Irama's Son Detained for Drug Possession
Jakarta. Dangdut singer Muhammad Ridho Rhoma will remain in custody for 20 days, after he was nabbed in a drug raid in West Jakarta on Friday (24/03).
According to the police, Ridho, son of Indonesia's "Dangdut King" and chairman of newly established Idaman Party, Rhoma Irama, will be questioned and tested for drugs by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
"In Ridho Rhoma's case, the BNN will take hair and urine samples. It is still a preliminary investigation. His detention period starts today," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said on Monday.
Ridho was arrested for possession of crystal methamphetamine at the Ibis Hotel Daan Mogot.
"He will be detained by the West Jakarta Police. In drug cases, detention period starts three days after the arrest," Argo added.
Ridho's family has pleaded for the young singer to be sent into a rehabilitation camp.
"It can be done in accordance with the regulations, but we will need an assessment from the BNN," Argo said.
Initial investigation revealed Ridho bought a 0.7 gram pack of crystal meth from a drug dealer known as M.S. for Rp 1.8 million ($135).
Police have also arrested the dealer.
"There are also other suspects whom we are pursuing to find out where the drugs came from," Argo said.
