AUGUST 15, 2018

Jakarta. The Indonesian Olympic Committee, or KOI, on Monday night (13/08) inaugurated Rumah Indonesia, a meeting place for members of the public and athletes competing in the 2018 Asian Games.

Rumah Indonesia (Indonesian House) is located in the Epicentrum Kuningan area in South Jakarta.

It will be open every day during the games, offering various cultural shows and merchandise.

"With Rumah Indonesia, we want to see citizens, artists, small and medium entrepreneurs, journalists and athletes interact and meet in one area," Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani said in a statement.

"We've done some brainstorming to choose which activities that can make Rumah Indonesia attractive," she said, adding that there will be a basketball field, an entertainment stage and food stalls.

Comr. Gen. Syafruddin, who also leads the Indonesian team during the games, said Indonesian athletes who win medals will immediately come to Rumah Indonesia to celebrate with members of the public.

More than 900 Indonesian athletes will compete for 463 gold medals in the 2018 Asian Games from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra.
