Jakarta. Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) visited President-elect Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Thursday to reiterate his full support and share his experience in leading the nation.

During the closed-door meeting at Prabowo’s residence, the two men discussed challenges facing the country ahead and SBY “pledged readiness to help and support the Prabowo government,” said Herzaky Mahendra Putra, a spokesman for SBY’s Democratic Party.

The former president also provided some insights about presidential duties and responsibilities during the one-hour meeting, he added.

Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, a spokesman for Prabowo, said the meeting specifically discussed geopolitical dynamics and challenges in the next five years.

“Mr. Prabowo received some advice from Mr. SBY related to his duty in the next five years, particularly amid the current geopolitical dynamics,” Dahnil said.

Prabowo’s son Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo was also seen welcoming the guest.

SBY and the Democratic Party shifted support to Prabowo’s presidential bid only a few months before the February 14 election after abandoning a rival coalition that refused to appoint his son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, as a vice-presidential candidate.
