Seven Indonesian Players Ready for Japan Open 2024 Round of 16

Yokohama. Seven Indonesian players are set to compete in the Round of 16 at the BWF Super 750 Japan Open 2024 in Yokohama, Japan, on Thursday.

In men's doubles, fourth-seeded Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto will face Malaysia's Choong Hon Jian/Muhammad Haikal in their first-ever meeting.

Mixed doubles pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati will challenge sixth seeds Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet, aiming for their first win against the Hong Kong duo, who lead their head-to-head 6-0.

In women’s singles, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo will go up against Thailand’s Supanida Katethong. The two have faced each other twice, each securing one victory. Ester won their last encounter in a tight rubber game during the 2024 Uber Cup quarterfinals in Chengdu, China.

An all-Indonesian clash will occur in men’s doubles as the new pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana take on Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Another men’s doubles pair, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, will meet Taiwan's Fang Chih Lee/Fang Jen Lee.

Finally, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo will compete against France's Alex Lanier in the men’s singles, marking their first encounter.
