Two Arrested for Assault on Teenager Over Rizieq Facebook Post

Jakarta. East Jakarta Police arrested two people for their alleged involvement in the mob-intimidation and assault of a 15-year-old student over a social media post he made, which they considered to be insulting of firebrand cleric Rizieq Shihab.
The arrest took place after video footage showed members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) attacking the home of Putra Mario Alvian Alexander, an ethnic Chinese student, in Cipinang Muara in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, in response to a Facebook post he reportedly made.
"We have arrested two people, with initials M. and U. We will transfer them to the Jakarta Police for further investigation," East Jakarta Police chief Comr. Andry Wibowo said on Thursday (01/06).
A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows people claiming to be FPI members angrily interrogating the victim in a room at around midnight on Sunday.
The group forced the student, who appears visibly shaken, to sign a letter of apology. In another scene, a young man can be seen beating and slapping Putra.
In a similar incident, Fiera Lovita, a medical doctor from Solok, West Sumatra, was subjected to threats and intimidation after criticizing an Islamic cleric on Facebook last month. She was also forced to sign a letter of apology.
Fiera subsequently fled to Jakarta, where she approached the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) for assistance. She told journalists about her ordeal on Thursday.
