Where to Watch: Jakarta's Free Public Screenings for Indonesia vs Iraq U-23 Cup Match

Jakarta. The Indonesian national football team continues its journey in the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup. The young Garuda will compete for third place against the Iraqi U-23 national team. The Indonesia U-23 vs Iraq U-23 match is scheduled to take place at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Thursday at 10:30 p.m. Jakarta time.

The Garuda Squad must win this match if they want to secure a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, even if they lose, there is still a chance to advance to the main stage of the Olympic football tournament. They would have to win a playoff match against the African representative, Guinea, in Clairefontaite, France, on May 9.

Several places in Jakarta will host free public screenings (nobar) of the match. Here is a list of free screenings compiled by Beritasatu.com:

  1. National Monument (Monas) 
    The Jakarta Provincial Government is organizing a screening at Monas. The public can reach the screening location using Transjakarta with a stop at the Monas Bus Stop.

  2. Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK)
    The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) will host a screening at GBK, in the ring road area in front of the official Garuda store and the north plaza. The entrance will open at 9:30 p.m. WIB. There are several rules applied to this screening, including a ban on bringing flares, smoke bombs, fireworks, and the like. The public can reach GBK via Transjakarta by getting off at the Gelora Bung Karno Bus Stop or using the MRT to Istora Mandiri Station.

  3. The Youth and Sports Ministry
    The Youth and Sports Minsitry will host a screening in the courtyard of the Kemenpora building located on Jalan Gerbang Muda, Central Jakarta. The public can enter the screening area starting from 8:00 p.m.

  4. Bloc Pos
    The screening location is at Bloc Pos, Central Jakarta. The entrance will open at 9:00 p.m. WIB. You can reach Bloc Pos using Transjakarta by getting off at Pasar Baru Bus Stop.

  5. Lippo Mall Kemang
    This mall is located on Jalan Pangeran Antasari, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta. The event is free of charge, but we recommend you reserve a table in the nearby restaurants.

  6. M Bloc Space
    M Bloc Space, known as a hangout spot for young people in Blok M, will also host a screening. It is located at the Creative Hall, M Bloc Space. The public can enter the screening area at 9:30 p.m. The nearest Transjakarta Bus Stops to this location are the Kejaksaan Agung Bus Stop and the Blok M Bus Stop. If using the MRT, you can alight at Blok M BCA Station.
