Bekasi. State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga said there has been a 4 percent increase in the number of vehicles leaving the capital on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in West Java between Thursday (21/12) and Saturday.
"From Thursday to Saturday, there were 234,000 vehicles leaving Jakarta," Jasa Marga spokesman Dwimawan Heru said on Sunday.
He added that another spike in traffic volumes is expected ahead of Christmas Day.
"We predict there will be another increase in traffic of 78,000 vehicles," he said.
Jasa Marga called on all toll road users to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition. The company also urged drivers to make sure that they have enough credit on their payment cards for toll fees to prevent problems at toll gates.
The toll road operator implemented a contraflow traffic system on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road until Sunday to reduce traffic congestion.
