Jakarta. The mother of slain policeman Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat burst into tears as she met face-to-face with the accused killer Second Patrolman Richard Eliezer during the murder trial at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday.
Rosti Simanjuntak told Richard to tell only the truth and stand against former police general Ferdy Sambo, who is tried separately for allegedly ordering the murder.
“Please Second Patrolman E, I am a mother, you too have a mother and family, please speak honestly, no lies, no cover-ups,” Rosti said of the defendant by his initial.
According to the indictments, Ferdy ordered the July 8 murder because according to his claim Yousa had harassed his wife, also a defendant in the case.
“Stop that scenario, my son has been murdered cold-bloodedly and heartlessly, and yet they invented stories to slander him,” a tearful Rosti said while staring at Richard.
“So please speak honestly to bring peace to my son.”
Her husband, Samuel Hutabarat, echoed the statement,
“I hope you become honest about what you saw and what you felt during that event and speak the truth before the judges,” Samuel said.
The couple was presented in the courtroom by prosecutors as witnesses.
Before the hearing began, Richard approached the witness stand and kneeled submissively before the parents to offer an apology.
Richard is accused of shooting Yousa at a close range at Ferdy’s official residence in South Jakarta.
