Jakarta. After the success of his third "Make Me Shudder" film in 2015, Thai director Poj Arnon is now back with another horror-comedy in "Zombie Fighters."

The movie follows Lambo (Puvadol Vechwongsa) and his friends as they visit a quarantine hospital plagued by virus-infected zombies in search of his parents and to rescue his brother Audi (Sanrattana Pasakorn).

Before Audi went missing, he had called Lambo, begging his brother to rescue him from a zombie attack. When Lambo and his friends arrived at the hospital, the place was quickly turned into a battlefield for humans and zombies.

Speaking during a press conference at Coffee Bean in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (07/06), Arnon said Zombie Fighters was one of the most challenging movies he had ever made.

"Almost all of the scenes were very difficult to direct because there were always hundreds of zombies appearing in each scene. I had to make extra efforts to choreograph all of them," Arnon said.

Even though Thai horror films generally favor traditional ghosts, Arnon said zombies have periodically popped up in them over the years.

"Hopefully Zombie Fighters can offer a fresh take on Thai horror films and entertain both local and international viewers," Arnon said.

Having played in Arnon’s three Make Me Shudder films, actors Kunatip Pinpradab, Kittipat Samantrakulchai and Puvadol Vechwongsa were more than happy to reunite in Zombie Fighters.

The director said it is easier for him to direct actors who already know each other very well.

"Building the bond between the characters becomes much easier," he said.

Vechwongsa, better known as James, said, "I’m glad I have the opportunity to play with them [Pinpradab and Samantrakulchai] again. It’s always fun to work with family."

Zombie Fighters will open in Indonesian cinemas on June 14.
