MCIT Disseminated AACC Through Traditional Opera
AACC2015, Malang – Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in cooperation with Malang City Government held Ludruk Bagra--one of Indonesia's traditional operas--under the theme, ”Strengthening the Nation's Identity through the Spirit of New Asian African Strategic Partnership (NAASP)” to promote the Asian African Conference Commemoration (AACC).
“We chose Malang City for AACC dissemination because the city has a lot of potential and creativity. We want to establish a more intensive cooperation with countries in Asia, especially Africa," said the Director General of Information and Public Communications, Freddy H Tulung, during an interactive dialogue session at Ludruk Bagra performance, Saturday (4/11).
He hoped this event could evoke the spirit of Malang citizens, especially the entrepreneurs to expand the Malang potentials, such as Malang’s culinary and fruit to African countries. "Since Malang is still unfamiliar in many countries in Africa, the Mayor of Malang can take the first step by inviting the Ambassadors from African countries to visit Malang, for example," he added.
Thus, people in African countries will know Malang’s culture, culinary, and its local products. In the future, it is quite possible for Malang and cities in African countries to establish a cooperation in a sister city program, he continued.
Bandung has established a sister city cooperation with Johannesburg, South Africa. "If Bandung can do this, Malang should be able to do the same," Mr. Tulung told.
Meanwhile, Sutiaji, Malang Deputy Mayor, hoped Malang citizens to be more enthusiastic in creating creative and innovative ideas. "We must be able to grow self-confidence, identify the potentials, optimize the chances of developing a strategic economic cooperation with Asian and African countries to realize the national development goals, and improve the welfare of society," he said.
He added that the cultural performance is expected to be an effective method to disseminate the spirit of AAC to the public through traditional performance. (Source: InfoPublik/Suranto, Translator: Sugiarti, Editor: Gusti Andry, Filmon Warouw)
