Jakarta. A nude man was arrested by the Presidential Security Detail, or Paspampres, for attempting to enter the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday (28/08) morning.
The individual approached the palace through the entrance on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, though he was immediately apprehended by on-duty Paspampres and military police personnel.
Video footage of the arrest, which shows the naked man attempting to flee from three security personnel, has since been uploaded and made viral on social media.
Jakarta Police spokesman Chief Comr. Argo Yuwono said the man is currently being investigated, though police suspect extreme stress or a mental disorder, as opposed to malicious intent, might be the cause of the event.
"All of sudden, he was running towards the palace. He said he wanted to get married. So, we want to contact his family. He is from Cengkareng [West Jakarta], with initial B," Argo said.
The police spokesman added that the man kept changing the details of his statement while being questioned by authorities.
"He spoke to us inconsistently, this is why we are coordinating with a doctor."
