Obama Visits Jokowi at Bogor Palace
Bogor. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and former United States President Barack Obama enjoyed traditional Indonesian snacks during a meeting at the Bogor Palace in West Java on Friday afternoon (30/06).
Obama arrived at 3.30 p.m. and was welcomed by Jokowi, first lady Iriana Widodo and the couple's youngest son Kaesang Pangarep. After signing the palace's guest book, he took a ride with the president on a golf cart to Grand Garden Cafe in the Bogor Botanical Garden.
Upon arrival, the two enjoyed a chat over tea and various Indonesian delicacies, including onde-onde (rice flour balls filled with palm sugar), talam ubi (cassava cakes), kue mangkok (steamed tart), panada cakalang (Manado-style pastry with tuna) and lemper ayam (glutinous rice with shredded chicken meat).
As it started to rain, they moved to the cafe's balcony to have bakso (meatball soup), which is, reportedly, one of Obama's favorite dishes.
The one-hour meeting ended with a photo session, after which Obama left for Jakarta to open the 4th Indonesian Diaspora congress on Saturday.
