Jakarta. Singapore's flag carrier Singapore Airlines and its subsidiary SilkAir will codeshare with the group's low-cost carrier Scoot in more than 130 destinations of Singapore's Airlines group network as part of the carrier's effort to have a strong footing in Southeast Asia.
The codeshare deal will allow passengers from those three carriers to travel from Singapore and several other cities across the world with only one ticket issued by one carrier, the company said in a joint statement on Thursday (08/12).
With the codeshare agreement under "SQ" code for Singapore Airlines flights and "MI" code for Silk Air flights, Scoot will start serving its operated flights to Athens in Greece, Clark and Gold Coast in Australia, Krabi and Hat Yai in Thailand, Kuching and Ipoh in Malaysia and Palembang in Indonesia.
Scoot, which completed its merger with Tigerair in late July this year, has just opened a new route from Palembang, South Sumatra, to Singapore on Nov. 23, which caters to the growing number of Singaporean tourists visiting Indonesia.
The carrier has recently added more flights from Singapore to Denpasar on Nov. 23. The carrier will fly three times a day to the island.
