Jakarta. It is business as usual for President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Friday (02/12), with the president paying a visit to Gelora Bung Karno sporting complex in South Jakarta as a mass demonstration is expected to attract 150,000 to Central Jakarta.

Jokowi had been scheduled to visit the complex to inspect venue preparations ahead of the Asian Games 2018 which Jakarta will host alongside Palembang, South Sumatra.

Meanwhile, protesters have flooded the area surrounding the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta for Friday prayers as part of a mass demonstration against Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama.

Access to the State Palace Complex has been closed with detours established throughout the area. Police and military personnel stand-by.

Friday's protest follows a demonstration which turned violent on Nov. 4, demanding the arrest of Basuki for alleged blasphemy.

The president's schedule following the visit to the sports complex is unknown at this stage.
