Jakarta. Almost all Indonesians, or 98.2 percent, favor President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, and most of them want him to continue leading the country, a survey by Indo Barometer shows.

On Nov. 15-23, the pollster surveyed 1,200 respondents eligible to vote.

"The majority, or 61.8 percent, want Jokowi as their president in 2019-24," the pollster said in a statement published on Sunday (03/12), adding that 23.6 percent of the respondents did not want to have Jokowi reelected.

The polling relied on multistage random sampling and direct interviews. The margin of error was 2.83 percentage points.

Prabowo Subianto, founder of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), is still one of Jokowi's top contenders in the 2019 presidential election.

Firmness, real work, good personality, friendliness and wisdom, which Indonesians expect from their leader, characterize Jokowi, according to more than 90 percent of the respondents.

According to Indo Barometer, many Indonesians want a vice president from the military and would like to see Jokowi choose Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, son of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, or Indonesian Military chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo as his running mate.

According to the survey, Prabowo Subianto would make a good pair with Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as vice president.

Members of the public are satisfied with the performance of Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, because of the improvements they have brought to the country's development, their ability to connect and empathize with ordinary people, and the fulfillment of their campaign promises, which included education and assistance to the poor, the pollster said.

However, there is still dissatisfaction over huge unemployment, unfair law enforcement and uneven distribution of development projects across the country.

Indo Barometer also measured public confidence in political parties — the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is followed by the Golkar Party and Gerindra.
