Jakarta. House of Representatives leaders have denied receiving an official letter from President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo recommending the replacement of State Intelligence Agency chief Sutiyoso, despite rumors that the lawmakers will discuss the issue in a plenary session on Tuesday (23/08).

Deputy speaker Fahri Hamzah, when asked by the press on Monday, said he never received the rumored letter from Jokowi.

Speaker Ade Komarudin backed Fahri's statement, saying he had not received any letter recommending the sacking of the former general.

Rumors had spread among reporters and politicians in Jakarta on Monday that a presidential letter recommending such a move would be read out during today's plenary session.

According to the rumors, Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, currently the deputy chief of the National Police, will take over from Sutiyoso as the country's intelligence czar.
