Jakarta. Quick count results indicate that Anies Baswedan and his running mate Sandiaga Uno are ahead of incumbent Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat in the second round of Jakarta's gubernatorial race on Wednesday (19/04).
As of 4.00 p.m., Cyrus Quick Count reported that Anies and Sandiaga, with 57.4 percent of the vote, are ahead of Ahok and Djarot with 42.6 percent.
According to Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC), Anies and Sandiaga lead with 58.29 percent, while Ahok-Djarot collected only 41.71 percent of the vote.
Anies and Sandiaga compete in the runoff election with the endorsement of the Great Indonesian Movement Party (Gerindra), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN) and a big faction of the United Development Party (PPP).
Ahok and Djarot are backed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the National Democratic Party (NasDem), the Golkar Party and the Nation Awakening Party (PKB).
