Cinemaxx Opens New Theater at Java Supermall Semarang

Jakarta. Cinemaxx, Lippo Group's movie theater chain, opened a new cineplex at Java Supermall in Semarang, the capital of Central Java, on Friday (05/05).

"Cinemaxx Java Supermall in Semarang is our 22nd cineplex in Indonesia. We will open new ones in more cities across the country soon. We want to make movie buffs happy," Cinemaxx head of marketing Willy Sutanto said.

He said the new cinema in Semarang has a total of 934 seats and five screens which will play local and international films in 2D and 3D.

Tickets at the theater will cost Rp 30,000 ($2) on weekdays and Rp 55,000 ($4) on weekends.

Moviegoers can view screening schedules and book tickets on Cinemaxx's official website or use its mobile app which is available on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Free tickets are available for all of today's shows. On Saturday, every ticket bought will also get you a free popcorn. On Sunday, there will be a "buy one get one free" ticket deal.

Established in 2014, Cinemaxx currently operates 117 screens in Indonesia. It expects to open 300 cineplexes with 2,000 screens spread across 85 cities in the next ten years.

Some Cinemaxx branches also feature Cinemaxx Junior, a cinema equipped with a playground for kids, Ultra XD technology with giant screens, multidimensional Dolby Atmos sound system, and Cinemaxx Gold, a high-end theater with reclining seats and waiter services.
