Jakarta. Celebrity Fitness, one of Asia's largest health and fitness clubs, has begun offering the self-defense training program Tatsujin Dojo at Gandaria City club in South Jakarta.
Offering both Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Kickboxing classes, the program brings together a workout combination that enhances both physical robustness and mental agility.
Celebrity Fitness claims the club is the first that offers such global mixed martial arts and kickboxing training for Indonesians.
Program founder Martijn de Jong is a renowned MMA artist and gave a two-hour performance, displaying action-packed moves at the opening on Thursday (21/04).
“Celebrity Fitness is the largest fitness brand in Indonesia and I am very happy to work with them," said Martijn, who has personally trained more than 300 clients.
"Self-defense training is getting very popular here and our goal is to give the people of Indonesia the best MMA training experience ever. The program can be quite challenging, but we believe that the great personal trainers of Celebrity Fitness has both excellent fitness skills and characters to make the workout entertaining and productive.”
Martijn earned his black belt at the age of 17 and is internationally nicknamed “The Specialist,” due to his fighting technique.
He founded Tatsujin Dojo, a Japanese term that means “the gym of The Specialist,” in which he created his unique version of the MMA training program by blending his championship experiences in black belt Kyokushin karate and Brazilian jiu jitsu, shooto, Dutch kickboxing, judo, wrestling and submission fighting.
Celebrity Fitness fitness development and innovation senior vice president J.J. Sweeney said he is hopeful about the success of the program and honored to be the club selected.
