Intiland, BNI Syariah and Grab Join Hands to Provide Drivers With Affordable Housing

Jakarta. Urban developer Intiland Development has entered into a strategic partnership with ride-hailing firm Grab and BNI Syariah, the shariah-compliant unit of Bank Negara Indonesia.

The partnership is aimed at raising funds and providing housing for Grab driver partners at Talaga Bestari in Tangerang, Banten.

Suhendro Prabowo, deputy director and chief operating officer of Intiland Development, Ridzki Kramadibrata, managing director for Grab Indonesia, and Abdullah Firman Wibowo, president director of BNI Syariah, signed the agreement in Jakarta on Wednesday (08/08).

Suhendro said the partnership was born from the same vision and need to assist Grab driver partners obtain housing with low monthly installments.

"We're very happy about this partnership and we appreciate everyone involved in it. This will be a worthwhile investment, considering that it will also help Grab driver partners to invest in comfortable homes," Suhendro said after the signing.

Intiland will provide single-story houses consisting of one bedroom, a bathroom and a living room, on plots that range in size from 60 square meters to 74 square meters, which would be big enough to accommodate future expansion.

Talaga Bastari is a 308-hectare modern integrated development project undertaken by Intiland.

"The location is strategic and it has good access to public transportation. It's also close to the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road, which will be very strategic in the future once construction of the Balaraja-Serpong and Balaraja-Soekarno Hatta Airport toll roads are completed, in addition to the MRT," Suhendro added.

"Housing is very important for everyone, including our drivers. That's why with our GrabProsperity program, we not only want our drivers to have a livelihood, but also the homes of their dreams. That's why we've welcomed this partnership with Intiland and BNI Syariah with open arms," Ridzki said.

Firman said BNI Syariah is committed to provide loans with steady installments, flexible for up to 15 years, free of administrative charges, free of provision charges and free of appraisal charges and fines through BNI Griya iB Hasanah, its shariah-compliant mortgage-loan scheme.

"As a Hasanah banking partner, BNI Syariah will always be committed to providing the best products and services, in accordance with Islamic law and help Grab Indonesia driver partners obtain loans for their homes in Talaga Bestari," Firman said.

In addition to this program, Intiland has also started development of housing units at Taman Palem in West Jakarta. The housing units are expected to take between six and 12 months to be completed.
