Matahari Opens New Outlet in Jember, East Java
Jakarta. Matahari Department Store opened a new outlet at Lippo Plaza Jember in East Java on Wednesday (31/05).
In a statement received by the Jakarta Globe, Matahari says the new department store is the 19th in East Java.
It is also the third outlet opened this year after those at Pacific Mall in Tegal, Central Java, and Suncity Mall in Madiun, East Java.
Matahari considered it an opportune time to open the new store because most people will be shopping for new outfits to celebrate Idul Fitri to mark the end of Ramadan.
Targeting the middle- and higher-class segment, the Matahari store in Jember provides a wide selection of fashion products and home appliances.
It also uses the latest store design concept with a wider layout and the use of eco-friendly LED lighting systems.
Matahari also used the opening ceremony as an opportunity to make donations to three institutions in the area. Representatives from Yayasan Pembina Anak Yatim, the Al-Huda Mosque, and Riyadhusolihin Islamic Boarding School were present to each receive a check for Rp 10 million ($750).
Matahari made 2,600 discount coupons worth Rp 50,000 each available to its loyal customers.
Customers making purchases for a minimum of Rp 500,000 will also receive discount vouchers of Rp 500,000 for their next purchases.
Matahari Department Store and the Jakarta Globe are both affiliated with the Lippo Group.
