Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk Takes Home ESG Awards

Jakarta. Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk recently took home two environmental, social, and governance (ESG) awards at the Investor Daily ESG Appreciation Night.
The company had won the Appreciated Environmental ESG Report award. As the name suggests, this award recognizes companies whose ESG report strongly focuses on the environmental aspect. The report should give a comprehensive and transparent picture of what a company is doing to manage its environmental impacts and save the planet. Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk also brought home an award in the Most Integrated ESG Report category. This award went to the top 20 companies who have comprehensively disclosed their ESG information in a report that includes ESG risk rating.
According to Andang Pungkase, ESG & sustainability department manager of PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk, the awards portray the company’s commitment to sustainability and net zero emission by 2060. To achieve net zero, PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk has prepared a roadmap with the so-called “ABCD” strategy.
The A stands for “abate” emission which the company has implemented since 2017. This strategy focuses on energy efficiency in the production processes. Followed by the “balance emission” steps that involve developing a green business with lower emissions. The third is the “control emissions” by adopting green technologies, including the CCS/CCUS (carbon, capture, utilization, and storage). Last but not least is the “decarbonize” strategy that involves the use of nature-based solutions. According to Andang, Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk has also prepared strategies to help the government achieve the enhanced nationally determined contribution (ENDC) emission reduction targets.
Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk also upholds ESG principles in many of its policies. The principles also become a basis for the company to design its sustainability strategies, including climate change mitigation, circular economy, social aspects, innovation, as well as human rights.
“ESG is not simply a net zero emission concept. We have summarized the issues that become a priority for our stakeholders, and include them in an ESG framework. … We are ready to implement ESG principles to achieve a sustainable business,” Andang said.
