Frisian Flag, Pergizi Pangan Draw Attention to Mothers' Nutritional Literacy
Jakarta. A recent joint program, held by milk producer Frisian Flag Indonesia and Indonesian Nutrition and Food Experts Society, or Pergizi Pangan, has drawn attention to the importance of mothers' nutrition literacy in combating malnourishment.
According to Frisian Flag Indonesia spokesman Andrew F Saputro, mothers must play multiple roles amid the Covid-19 pandemic. They must manage the household while also taking care of the family members working or studying at home. Mothers have to ensure their loved ones comply with the health protocols to keep the virus at bay.
"Frisian Flag Indonesia is aware of how vital the roles of mothers and women are in health, social, and economic recovery during the pandemic. In some areas, Covid-19 has fueled malnutrition issues in families," Andrew said in a statement on Friday.
To commemorate National Nutrition Day on Jan. 25, Frisian Flag and Pergizi Pangan held the #IndonesiaSiap, a nutrition education program dedicated to mothers and women. They have also given online training for 1,000 Family Welfare Movement (PKK) representatives in South Sumatera on nutrition literacy. Frisian Flag also donated their Kompleta powdered milk to 10,000 families in South Sumatra for a healthy, balanced diet.
"The availability of affordable, nutritious products and nutrition education programs are needed in these times. Collaboration is key in building nutrition literacy in the community," Andrew said.
Likewise, Pergizi Pangan shares the same goal of improving nutrition literacy.
"Including [knowledge on] nutritious food and drinks for the Indonesian people. We will continue to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to disseminate information on nutrition improvement. I hope this program can help realize healthy and strong families with the fulfillment of balanced nutrition," Pergizi Pangan chairman Hardinsyah said.
