Jakarta. State-owned weapon manufacturer Pindad showcased Saturday hundreds of its defense equipment -- ranging from combat vehicles (Ranpur) and operational vehicles (Ranops) to tactical vehicles (Rantis) -- at the armed forces TNI's 79th-anniversary celebrations in Jakarta.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto rode the Maung MV3 Irup to inspect the troops.

TNI showed 1,059 defense equipment from its three branches, including those produced by Pindad. Some of Pindad's equipment that took part in the parade included the Medium Tank Harimau, Pandur 8x8, Anoa, and Komodo in various variants. It also presented 250 units of Ranops Maung MV3 equipped with SM3-A1 weapons with a caliber of 7.62 mm and SM5-A1 with a caliber of 12.7 mm on the Maung MV3 mobile jammer.

In his speech, Jokowi thanked Defense Minister and President-Elect Prabowo Subianto on improving Indonesia's defense.

"Prabowo has modernized our defense equipment and strengthened the country's defense diplomacy on the global stage. Over the past 10 years of my presidency, I have truly felt what TNI had done to maintain the country's unity and political stability," Jokowi said.

Pindad's president director Abraham Mose thanked the government for entrusting the defense modernization job to Pindad.

"We also would like to express our gratitude for allowing us [Pindad] to display our products -- be it combat vehicles or weapons -- at TNI's 79th anniversary," Abraham said.

According to a press release, the Harimau has main weapon of a 105 mm caliber cannon, a 7.62 mm caliber SM, and is equipped with modern technology such as the laser warning system and battle management system.

The Badak armored vehicle is equipped with a main weapon of a 90 mm caliber cannon and a 7.62 mm caliber SM for maximum firepower. The Badak has bulletproof steel body protection and a level 3 protection level.

The Pandur has a 30 mm caliber main weapon and is equipable with a 7.62 coaxial SM. Modern tech weapons included in the system have advanced gun and sights stabilization capabilities, as well as hunter-killer capability integrated with smoke grenade launchers and a laser warning system.

Pindad said both domestic and foreign missions --including the UN-- have used the Anoa and Komodo in battles. These two variants have high mobility, carrying capacity, and cruising range.

This year, Pindad also introduced the Maung MV3 Mobile Jammer 4x4 vehicle product & SPS-1 anti-drone weapon at the VVIP guest security demonstration and TNI anti-drone operation.

SPS-1 is the latest weapon developed by Pindad. It can disable drones at a distance of 500 m and can destroy drones at a distance of 150 m.

The Maung MV3 Mobile Jammer is designed as a mobile anti-drone system with a jamming radius of 3 kilometers and destruction of up to 1.8 kilometers using the SMB SM5 A1 12.7 mm caliber weapon.

Other PT Pindad weapons --including the SS1, SS2, and AM-1 caliber 5.56 mm-- were also shown at the parade.

Pindad's AM-1 rifle is the successor to the SS1 and SS2 with a caliber of 5.56 x 45 mm NATO. This rifle has a barrel length of 14.5 inches and is equipped with a telescopic stock that can be extended to the rear (retracted). This assault rifle has a total length of 881 mm when the stock is fully extended and 797 mm when the stock is in the normal position. The AM-1 has an ergonomic, modular design, and high accuracy.
