Jakarta. Maung MV3 Tangguh vehicle --produced by the state defense company Pindad-- recently helper brought the red-and-white flag replica and the proclamation text from the Halim Perdanakusuma airport to the National Monument or Monas.

The government previously had brought these historical objects to the new capital as part of Indonesia's independence day celebrations.

During the return parade, the Maung MV3 Komando vehicle was on standby as a “reserve vehicle”, driving at the back of a series of vehicles to anticipate any rain.

"The use of the Maung Pindad vehicle shows the government's trust in domestically made products. We are grateful that Pindad’s vehicles got to be part of history,” Pindad’s corporate secretary Dianing P Rahayu was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.

Heru Budi Hartono, the head of the presidential secretariat, thanked everyone who had helped with the parade.

The Maung MV1 was in charge of the return route in the new capital.

The vehicle crossed Simpang Riko, Pulau Balang Bridge, the new capital’s Segment 3B toll road, Manggar toll road to SAMS Sepinggan Balikpapan airport.

Once in Jakarta, the Maung MV3 vehicle took the flag and text to Monas. The vehicle had crossed the Semanggi Interchange, Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Sarinah, Horse Statue, South Medan Merdeka Street before reaching Monas.

According to the press release, Pindad’s Maung MV3 Tangguh boasts a 2,200 cc turbo diesel engine. It is capable of traveling at a safe speed of 100 km/hour and has a range of up to 500 km.

The Maung MV3 Tangguh used is an open-top variant. It can carry 4 personnel and has 5 accessible doors (four on the side and one on the rear). This vehicle also has other variants, including the “hard top-roofed” Maung MV3 Komando. There is also a soft top roof option, namely the Maung MV3 Jelajah.
