Jakarta. A recent gathering of US alumni had taken presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto down memory lane.

Prabowo attended Monday the high-profile gathering of Erick Thohir’s supporters who used to study in the US. This group of people called themselves by the acronym ETAS. The ETAS event had picked the 80s-90s as its theme, thus songs from those years were playing.

The host asked Prabowo to show off his singing skills, to which the candidate replied that he was more fond of 1960s and 1970s music like the English band The Beatles.

“I’m from the 60s music generation,” Prabowo said.

Later that evening, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” by the Creedence Clearwater Revival suddenly played. Prabowo was seen singing along to the song. He also sang along to The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and “I Saw Her Standing There”.

Prabowo was dining together with Erick Thohir, Garibaldi “Boy” Tohir, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Bernandino Moningka Vega, and Maruarar Sirait. Boy Thohir said that the ETAS members were all businessmen who were ready to help Prabowo and running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka win the election in one round.

“We may be small in number. But everyone in this room represents a third of Indonesia’s economy. They are from [top businesses] like Djarum Group, Sampoerna Group, among others,” Boy Thohir said.
