Jakarta. Life insurer Prudential Indonesia recently gave a token of appreciation to its agency business partners who had helped improve the insurance literacy in the country.

The company recently held Prudential Agency Awards Night in Jakarta to award outstanding agency business partners. Prudential even published their achievements on social media, online media, and even billboards.

“We believe that agency business partners play a crucial role in expanding the reach of insurance literacy and inclusion in Indonesia. That’s why we continue to support them by training them, providing them the latest technology as well as appreciating them,” Prudential Indonesia’s chief agency officer Rusli Chan said.

Such awards are part of Prudential Indonesia’s strategy to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem based on financial protection. The company also equips these agencies with development programs. This way, they are not only trained to sell life insurances, but also play a role in realizing a financially resilient Indonesian society.

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported in 2022 that Indonesia’s insurance literacy index stood at only 31.72 percent. Inclusion rate reached 16.63 percent. This is way below the country’s banking literacy and inclusion, which hit 49.93 percent and 74.03 percent, respectively. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia is home to 56.2 million entrepreneurs in August 2024. However, they only make up 3.57 percent of the national workforce, still below neighboring countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.

“Our agency business partner scheme aims to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in Indonesia. This profession is not only promising from a business perspective, but also has a social impact through financial education," Rusli said.

Prudential Indonesia hopes the exposure of outstanding agency business partners can inspire other people to follow their footsteps. Aside from travel rewards, the media exposure is also expected to motivate other agency business partners to continue to provide the best service possible to their customers.

"Prudential Indonesia applauds the professionalism of agency business partners who have maintained the quality of their services. This is in line with our spirit as a trusted partner and protector for the current and future generations," Rusli said.
