Jakarta. A recent survey shows that Tokopedia becomes the most popular e-commerce website in Indonesia, amassing hundreds of millions of monthly clicks.

Good Stats, referring to a Statista survey, wrote that Tokopedia garnered a whopping 158.35 million monthly clicks as of the second quarter of 2022, followed by Shopee (131.3 million), Lazada (26.64 million), and Bukalapak (21.3 million). Blibli ranked fifth with 19.74 million monthly clicks.

The e-commerce boom in Indonesia is showing no sign of slowing down. Data.ai reported that Indonesians spent at least 6.6 billion hours shopping online over the past year.

E-commerce will also likely remain a driver for Indonesia’s digital economy in 2023, just like in the past years, as the sector represents a large part of the country’s digital economy.

“More than half of our digital economy comes from e-commerce. And [the transaction value] of e-commerce is forecast to reach between Rp 600 trillion [around $38.9 billion] and Rp 700 trillion this year,” Rudiantara, the chairman of the Indonesian E-commerce Association (iDEA) board advisory, was quoted as saying by Goodstats.

Last November, the Indonesian central bank (BI) projected that the country’s e-commerce transaction value could reach Rp 572 trillion in 2023.
