Indonesian Fighters Dominate 'ONE: Conquest of Heroes' in Jakarta
Jakarta. Indonesian fighters, including Priscilla Lumban Gaol, the only female fighter on the card, dominated ONE Championship's "ONE: Conquest of Heroes" event in Jakarta on Saturday (22/09).
Priscilla, considered one of the rising stars in the promotion, added one more victory to her 2018 record when she overcame the previously undefeated Jomary Torres of the Philippines with a unanimous decision after three five-minute rounds.
In the curtain-raiser for the preliminary rounds, Egi Rozten of Indonesia defeated fellow countryman Riski Umar with technical knockout, less than a minute into the third round, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Riski scored a first-round TKO against Egi in their previous encounter during "ONE: Kings of Courage" in January.
Papuan fighter Adrian "Badboy" Matheis returned to the winner's circle after stopping Angelo "The Unicorn King" Bimoadji of Indonesia in the first round.
Matheis unleashed a left hook-uppercut combination to end matters midway through the opening, as the referee had no choice but stop the contest after Bimoadji was out on his feet.
Meanwhile, local veteran, Sunoto "The Terminator" Peringkat finished off his opponent, Victorio "Indra" Senduk of Bandung, West Java, with a slick submission in the second round in the next fight.
After dominating the first round, Sunoto entered the second looking to finish. Nearing the end of the second frame, Sunoto took Senduk's back and latched on with a rear naked choke to force the tap.
ONE Indonesia Flyweight Tournament champion Stefer Rahardian, who moved down a weight class recently, meanwhile failed to make a comeback in front of his home crowd after losing to Chinese wrestler Peng Xue Wen in the event's co-headliner.
Dominating Stefer with his strikes, Peng managed to escape several poorly executed grappling attempts by the Indonesian. Stefer seemed too cautious, while not managing to dominate the cage. The judges awarded Peng with a unanimous decision at the end of the three five-minute rounds.
