Lindswell Kwok Secures Indonesia's Second Gold Medal at 2018 Asian Games
Jakarta. Lindswell Kwok secured Indonesia's second gold medal at this year's Asian Games with two winning performances in wushu.
Lindswell finished in the top spot with 9.75 points in the taijijian event at Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran on Monday (20/08), followed by Uen Ying Juanita Mok of Hong Kong with 9.71 and Agatha Wong of the Philippines with 9.68.
The 26-year-old native of Medan, North Sumatra, also won the taijiquan event on Sunday, also with 9.75 points, followed by Mok with 9.71 and Thi Khanh Tran of Vietnam with 9.68.
The aggregate points of taijiquan and taijijian saw Wong beating Tran for the bronze medal.
"I was nervous at first, but luckily the result was great. This gold medal is for all Indonesian people," Lindswell said after winning the taijijian competition, watched by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto, in his capacity as chairman of the Indonesian Wushu Association, previously set a target for the sport to win at least one gold medal during this year's Asian Games.
"A second gold for Indonesia on day two of the 2018 Asian Games! This morning, Lindswell Kwok secured a gold medal in wushu's taijijian all-round event," Jokowi tweeted on Monday.
"Lindswell, Southeast Asia's wushu queen, has now become the queen of Asia," the president added.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports expects the host of this year's Asian Games to win at least 16 gold medals and finish among the top-10 in the medal tally.
Defia Rosmaniar secured Indonesia's first 2018 Asian Games gold medal with a win in the women's individual poomsae event in taekwondo on Sunday.
Indonesia won one gold and one silver medal in wushu at the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea.
