Perhumas to Encourage Citizens to Be PR Agents of Indonesia
Jakarta. The Public Relations Association of Indonesia, or Perhumas, plans to hold its annual convention on Nov. 27-28 in Bogor, West Java, themed #IndonesiaBicaraBaik, its chairman Agung Laksamana said in a statement on Monday (16/10).
The event, which theme can be translated to English as "Speak Well Indonesia," is expected to see in attendance public relations practitioners, observers, academics and politicians. It is going to be opened by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
"We expect everyone to realize that they are the PR of Indonesia," Agung said.
A number of high level government officials, including Communications Minister Rudiantara, Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto, are scheduled to speak at the convention.
PR top practitioners, including Prita Kemal Gani from the Asean Public Relations Network, Ahmad Reza from the PR forum of state-owned enterprises, and Niken Widiastuti of the government's public relations agency (Bakohumas), are listed as speakers too.
Senior journalists, among them Indonesia's Press Council chairman Yosep Adi Prasetyo, and top technopreneurs such as Shinta Dhanurawrdoyo, will also participate in the event.
"The public needs to participate in our #IndonesiaBicaraBaik campaign by spreading the spirit of nationalism, optimism and helping convey positive stories about the nation, its culture, creativity and diversity," Agung said.
