Jakarta. Chief Security Minister Hadi Tjahjanto has assured the security of voter data stored in the election vote recap system (Sirekap), despite the server being located overseas.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) collaborates with Alibaba Cloud from China to store voters' data.

Minister Hadi affirmed the data's security based on reports from the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), the Criminal Investigation Department of the Indonesian National Police, and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

He stated that the Ministry has devised a series of plans to ensure the security of data on the number of votes in the Sirekap system. Additionally, Hadi emphasized the importance of maintaining the accuracy and accountability of data entered into Sirekap.

However, Hadi refrained from providing detailed elaboration on the security measures to be implemented by the Criminal Investigation Department, BSSN, and BIN.

"Everything is proceeding according to plan and remains operational," he said on Tuesday.

Previously, telecommunications expert Roy Suryo recommended that the KPU disclose the agreement with Alibaba Cloud to safeguard public data by the electoral organizing institution.

Roy emphasized on Monday that transparency regarding the agreement with Alibaba Cloud is essential to discern the extent of the rights and obligations of both parties.

The KPU temporarily suspended the display of the vote recapitulation graph on its website due to misinterpretations stemming from data discrepancies related to polling stations (TPS). Technical issues with the optical character recognition (OCR) in the vote counting machine resulted in data misinterpretations, leading to delays in the vote recapitulation from the presidential and legislative elections held on February 14.
