Jakarta. A gathering of top executives from major tech companies will take place in Jakarta next month to preach the gospel of platform technology and encourage more businesses to adopt it.
Platform technology is the base for applications, processes or other technology operations where users communicate, interact and interoperate in an ecosystem. This includes operating systems, computing, database, storage, application and other digital platforms.
"In Indonesia, digital platforms are mostly used by startup companies, but we want other businesses to use them as well," Rachmat Gunawan, the director of Computrade Technology International (CTI) group, said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"We want to educate businesses about platform technology, its challenges and opportunities. We will show its trends and impacts and encourage them [businesses] to adopt it," he said.
The eighth CTI IT Infrastructure Summit will be held on March 11 at Tribarata Darmawangsa in South Jakarta, bringing together major figures and companies in platform technology.
The tech summit will feature exhibitions and seminars and major industry figures such as Panji Wasmana, the chief technology officer of IBM Indonesia; Hery Almadja, the digital and emerging tech partner at Ernst & Young; Sachin Chitturu, a partner at McKinsey & Co; Justin Chiah, the senior director of Aruba; and Alex Spinell, the CTO of LivePerson and developer of Amazon's virtual assistant artificial intelligence Alexa.
According to a 2019 McKinsey report, more than 30 percent of global economic activity in 2025 will make use of digital platforms. However, by last year only 3 percent of older companies had adopted an effective platform strategy.
The CTI IT Infrastructure Summit is organized in cooperation with leading global IT service providers Aruba, IBM, Alibaba Cloud, Veeam, Dell Technologies, Huawei and Oracle.
