Jakarta. OLX, an online platform for classified advertisements, appointed Olaf Van Schagen to replace Daniel Tumiwa as chief executive, the company announced on Friday (25/08).
Schagen, who has spent 18 years in the tech industry, previously served as country manager for Doctena, an online platform to help find and book medical appointments in the Netherlands.
"Indonesia is becoming a country with an exciting and prominent e-commerce landscape in Asia, so it's an honor for me to win the trust to lead the country's largest classified ad platform," Schagen said in a statement on Friday.
He also previously served as a director at Parships.com, a Hamburg-headquartered online matchmaking service.
"OLX Indonesia is known as a classified ad platform. With so much experience and a diverse portfolio, as well as the ability to see future opportunities in the business, Schagen's leadership will further strengthen OLX's position as the leader of online classifieds in Indonesia, " said Robin Voogd, OLX's regional chief executive for Asia.
The company also attracted a significant consumer base among Indonesians as OLX boasts 23 million active users each month. The company facilitates an average 1.4 million transactions each month, worth Rp 31 trillion ($2 billion).
