Samsung Launches Note 10 in Indonesia

Jakarta. Samsung Electronics Indonesia, the local arm of the South Korean multinational electronics company, launched its new flagship Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ smartphones in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"The Note 10 is the perfect Galaxy smartphone and the most powerful, with the advanced-technology S Pen [stylus] and various other features," Samsung Electronics Indonesia president Jae Hoon Kwon said during the launch.

The new model comes in two sizes for comfort and choice. The Note 10 has a 6.3-inch Dynamic Amoled screen, while the Note 10+ has a 6.8-inch Cinematic Infinity Display screen.

Both variants are available in Aura White, Aura Black and Aura Glow – the most popular variant, which sold out on preorder.

The new flagship device arrives in Indonesia at a time when Samsung lost its lead in the local market for the first time in years. Chinese rival Oppo overtook Samsung in the second quarter with a 26 percent market share, compared with the South Korean company's 24 percent, according to recent data from global consumer research firm Canalys.

However, Samsung said it still accounts for two-thirds of the premium segment, or smartphones costing more than $800. 

Kwon said he believed the Galaxy Note 10 would maintain customer interest in Samsung products. The phone also comes with a new feature that allows users to convert handwriting to text, in addition to professional-grade video recording capabilities and more. 

"The number of Galaxy users has doubled in the past three years. The smartphone has changed the way we adapt and express ourselves," he said.
