Startups From 15 Countries Attend Tech in Asia Conference 2019 in Jakarta

Jakarta. Representatives of hundreds of startups from 15 countries participated in a two-day event in Jakarta this week to share their technological expertise and help Indonesia bolster its startup industry.

The Tech in Asia Conference, which took place at the Jakarta Convention Center in Senayan on Tuesday and Wednesday, also saw investors and decisionmakers discuss startup development and the latest technological trends.

Previous events took place in Tokyo and Singapore. 

"Indonesia offers many opportunities and is considered important for startups aiming to penetrate the regional market. To support the development of a startup ecosystem in Asia, we try to be the hub that helps digital entrepreneurs build their businesses in Asia," Willis Wee, founder of Tech in Asia, one of Asia's largest technology platforms, said on the sidelines of the conference.

The 301 participating startups showed off their products and services in the Startup Factory exhibition. Speakers from renowned technology companies and startups also shared their knowledge on the latest innovations and the industry, including marketing and branding, growth and expansion, sales and revenue, products and more.

Indonesian Startups

Indonesia was represented by startups from a wide range of sectors, including e-commerce, education and financial technology.

Among them were, a platform that connects teachers and schools throughout Indonesia, AbiNuwas and Tauaf, which offer halal tourism and hajj and umrah pilgrimage services, and Duha Syariah, which is engaged in shariah-compliant financial services.
