Tangerang to Use Telkomsel Apps to Keep City Officials Honest
Jakarta. Indonesia's biggest telecommunication operator Telkomsel is supporting the Tangerang administration's "Smart City" campaign, lending its T-Bike and T-Drive technology to help monitor the city's public services.
"These devices are a must-have for a smart city. We will help the Tangerang government implement that concept," Telkomsel Account Management General Manager for the Greater Jakarta Area Nyoman Adiyasa said in a statement sent to the Jakarta Globe on Tuesday (20/09).
The devices will be installed on government vehicles and integrated with the T-Bike and T-Drive apps, available on iOS and GooglePlay.
The devices and apps will help city administration monitor the movement of government vehicles and make sure they are used properly.
Both devices will also be integrated with Tangerang's soon-to-be launched smart city app called Sigap, which has been designed to monitor city officials' behavior while on the job. The public will be able to send real-time feedback on the officials' performance, which should improve public services in the city.
In the initial phase of the campaign, Telkomsel will install 15 T-Bike units on government motorcycles and two T-Drive units on the city's ambulances.
According to Nyoman, Bogor, Bekasi and Bandung in West Java will soon follow Tangerang's example and install the same devices and apps on their own government vehicles.
