Joko Honors Victims of Poso Heli Crash

Jakarta. In a special ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Tuesday (22/03), President Joko Widodo honored the military and intelligence personnel who were killed in a helicopter crash in Central Sulawesi on Sunday.

The army helicopter crashed in Poso, killing all 13 on board. The military and police are conducting a large, joint anti-terror operation in the area.

Joko, accompanied by the first lady, Iriana, met with families of the deceased at the airport in East Jakarta.

The president also previously conveyed his condolences to the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Intelligence Agency (BIN).

"To TNI and BIN, I convey my deepest condolences on the death of Col. Syaiful Anwar, Col. Herry, Col. Ontang and the others who have died while carrying out their duties in Poso,” Joko said at the State Palace on Monday.

After the ceremony at the air force base, the deceased were buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta.
