Bandung Ready to Hold Independence Carnival

Jakarta. Bandung held the final rehearsal for the 2017 Parahyangan Independence Carnival on Friday (25/08).

Photos and videos hashtagged #KarnavalPesonaParahyangan and #StartJam2Siang have been trending on social media.

"The Bandung administration is still working hard to prepare for tomorrow's Independence Carnival," Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil said.

Themed "Nyalakan Api Semangat Kerja Bersama" ("Sparking the Spirit of Working Together"), the festival will kick off on Saturday at 2 p.m.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and first lady Iriana Widodo are going to lead the carnival parade in the "Pancasila vehicle" that was created for the event by five Bandung artists.

According to Ridwan, more than 40 groups from all over the country will display the cultures of their regions.

"This carnival is the closing event of the 72nd Independence Day celebrations, and it aims to showcase the distinctive cultures of the regions," Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said.
