East Java's Malang Develops Smart Village System
Jakarta. Malang in East Java is currently developing a smart village system for its tourist villages, a statement released by the Ministry of Tourism said on Tuesday (24/10).
"There are now 16 tourist villages that have joined the smart village system," Made Arya Wedhantara, head of Malang Tourist Agency, said.
The smart village system will ease access to information about facilities, services, tourist attractions, entrance fees and bookings in the region via smartphone.
The ministry will support further development of the app to help tourist villages in Malang be more competitive in the Indonesian tourism market.
"The more digital, the more we can reach our future customers [as] we will be able to know about the demography, psychography and their individual behavior," Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said.
The project will support the government’s target of 20 million foreign tourists by 2019.
