Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism held a workshop and seminar attended by 300 vocational school teachers in Manado, North Sulawesi, on Thursday (06/07).

Ahman Sya, deputy minister for tourism institutional development, was one of the speakers during the event, titled "Tourism Development for Teachers."

"It is one of our programs to accelerate quality human resources in the tourism industry. We aim to train more people to work in tourism to boost industry growth," Ahman said in a statement.

"We hope the 300 teachers from Manado who attended will understand and implement the importance of tourism in their region, as it effectively impacts on the economy," he added.

The ministry considers North Sulawesi as Indonesia's northern door for foreign tourists. The province has welcomed 28,000 tourists as of April this year.
