Locally Produced Delicacy to Bear the Wonderful Indonesia Logo
Jakarta. Bon Gout Indonesia, a cookie manufacturer from Surabaya that distributes its products in Indonesia and internationally, will soon bear the Wonderful Indonesia logo on its packaging, the Ministry of Tourism said on Tuesday (23/05).
Esthy Reko Astuti, a deputy for tourism development at the ministry said that Indonesia is known for its delicacies and marketing food products with the logo is one way to promote what the country has to offer.
"Using the Wonderful Indonesia logo on food products is an effective [marketing strategy] to reach the international market," Esthy said.
"Cookies are always the go-to snack for every occasion and they are strongly associated with their place of origin," Esthy said.
The ministry's first co-branding deal was with Garuda Food’s Papatonk shrimp crackers. The campaign proved successful and the product entered the Chinese market bearing the Wonderful Indonesia logo with a some information about local traditions and destinations in Indonesia.
"Even Papatonk [crackers] which have the Wonderful Indonesia logo on its packaging, received the Primaduta Award given by President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo last year [...] We hope the Bon Gout cookies will also be distributed in various countries and will introduce Indonesia to the world," Esthy said.
Bon Gout products — such as almond crisps, sultana cookies and fortune kurma — are authentically made in Surabaya and has long been associated with the city.
"Locally, our products are currently available in three cities: Surabaya, Malang and Bali. It can also be purchased online and we offer delivery services nationwide," Novianty said.
