Jakarta. Siladen Resort and Spa near Manado, North Sulawesi, was voted the best dive center or resort of 2017 by London-based Dive Magazine.
The resort is located in a lush tropical environment near Bunaken National Marine Park, can be reached within 15 minutes from Sam Ratulangi International Airport.
The rooms, decorated in Balinese style with open bathrooms, offer beautiful views of the marine park and Mount Manadotua Mountain.
The main appeal of Siladen Island is its quiet beaches with magnificent views. On the 31-hectare island, visitors can enjoy boating excursions to the marine park, snorkeling, diving, underwater photography and sunbathing.
The relatively small ocean waves also make it safe for visitors to swim and enjoy the underwater beauty, which includes coral reefs and abundant sea life. The two best diving sites in the area are between 20 meters and 50 meters deep.
Visitors may also opt to remain on dry land, where they can observe various animals, such as black monkeys, deer and cuscus.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said the award will strengthen the nation’s place on a global level.
"Better promotion and management will make us the defending champion," Arief said in a statement on Nov. 9.
