Tourism Ministry Promotes Slank's Concert in East Nusa Tenggara
Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism is currently promoting an upcoming cross-border concert by Indonesian rock band Slank, which will take place at Simpang Lima in Atambua, Belu district, East Nusa Tenggara, on Sept. 22.
The ministry has dispatched a special team to directly promote the concert to the people of neighboring East Timor.
"We have directly distributed all promotion materials, such as billboards, pamphlets and more, in East Timor. We have also scheduled a press conference in East Timor before the event kicks off," Esthy Reko Astuti, the ministry's deputy for tourism development, said in a statement on Wednesday (13/09).
The large billboards are displayed at the border gate between East Timor and Indonesia.
Belu Tourism Agency head Johanes Andeas Prihatin said they will collaborate with the central government to take care of issues such as immigration checks, to ease the access for foreign tourists from East Timor going to the concert.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said popular bands such as Slank will be effective endorsers to attract large numbers of people and also tourists from other regions.
