Multi-Vehicle Crash in Puncak Leaves Four Dead, at Least Five Injured

Bogor. Four people died and at least five others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Puncak, Bogor district, West Java, on Saturday afternoon (22/04).

The pileup occurred at 5.30 p.m. when a bus rammed into cars and motorcycles on a stretch of hilly road on Jalan Raya Puncak.

Six cars and two motorcycles were involved in the crash.

Bogor Police traffic unit head Chief Insp. Hasby Ristama said four people were killed in the accident and five others are still receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

The four people killed in the pileup were Riyansyah Purnama Putra (26), Jainudin (32), Dadan (45) and Diana Simatupang (24).

The bus driver, 51-year-old Bambang Hernowo, has been named suspect for negligent driving.

"The bus driver who caused the crash doesn’t have a driving license and didn’t have the vehicle registration papers with him," Hasby said on Sunday.

The driver is currently being detained at Bogor Police headquarters for further investigation.
