Jakarta. A Wings Air plane suffered damages to its left wing after colliding with a Lion Air plane on the runway at Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, on Thursday (03/08).
The minor collision caused major delays at the busy airport.
No one was injured in the incident.
"All our passengers are safe and no one is injured. The two planes are currently parked on the apron so they do not cause more disruption to the Kualanamu International Airport," Lion Air Group spokesman Andy Saladin said in a press release.
Andy said the incident occurred as the Lion Air plane, a Boeing 737-900 ER, landed on the runway after a flight from Banda Aceh.
The Lion Air plane hit the left wing of the Wings Air plane, an ATR 72-500, which was about to take off to Meulaboh in Aceh.
Wings Air is the fully owned subsidiary of Lion Air.
